What Container is Safe to Use for Foton Candles?
One of the coolest things about Foton Pearled Candles is that you can use them to turn almost anything into a candle. It's true, even containers that are normally not suitable for candles can be used with Foton pearls...as long as they meet the requirements for container size.
In fact, choosing the right container is key to a successful and safe pearled candle experience. A lot of people ask "Can I use a wooden container with my Foton Pearled Candle?"
Wooden containers can make a stunning and rustic choice for your Foton Pearled Candles, adding a unique, natural touch to your decor. While fireproof containers are the most recommended, you can safely use other containers too, like wooden containers, as long as they meet the right size requirements.
Here’s the key: The container needs to be large enough to prevent the melt pool from reaching the container's edge. This is both for fire safety (prevents the container from overheating) and for easy cleanup (nothing sticks to the container).
To accomplish this, as a general rule, your container must have a minimum width of 4 inches at its narrowest point for a single-wick candle. This ensures there's enough space for the pearls to melt evenly without overheating the container. Make sure to never add a wick closer than 2 inches from any side of the container or decoration.
Be sure to test it carefully as the candle burns, to make sure the container does not heat up excessively and that the melt pool doesn't reach the container.
How to place your Foton Wicks and Decor?
Proper wick and decor placement are essential for a safe and efficient burn. Here's how to place your Foton Wicks and decor correctly:
-
Wicks and Decor: Make sure that there is at least 2 inches of pearls (the wax pearls surrounding the wick) around each wick and between the wicks and decor. This allows the candle to burn evenly without the melt pool reaching the decor or the container for safety.
-
Use One Wick in a 4-inch Container: In containers that are 4 inches wide, like our Cube Vases, always use only one wick in the center of the container. Using multiple wicks in a narrow container will cause excessively large melt pools, leading to overheating and potential container damage.
-
Container Bottom: Always make sure there’s at least 1 inch between the bottom of the wick and the container. This distance allows the pearls to melt until the end of the wick and then self-extinguish rather than risking excessive heat to build up at the bottom of the container, which could lead to damaging the container or the surface beneath it.
By following these container size guidelines and proper wick placement tips, you can enjoy your Foton Pearled Candle safely and beautifully.
